Mark 1:9-11 - Why was Jesus Baptized?
Uploaded on 1/2/2012
Video 2 of our teaching series on the Gospel of Mark. Why was Jesus baptized?
- To fulfill all righteousness
- As part of the Father's intent for His life
- As a sign to John the baptizer and those with him
- As a model for us to follow
- As a physical foreshadowing of His Death & Resurrection (and ours through Him alone)
Jesus did not BECOME the Son of God. He was eternally with the Father, even from the beginning (e.g. see John's intro)
NOTE: As stated in the prior video, the work of Baptism is NOT the means to enter Heaven, but there is no reason for a Christian not to want to be baptized. Baptism is the outward showing of a decision of inward faith in Jesus. Haven't been baptized yet? Why not pursue that?! It's a great step of obedience to our Savior.
